October, which came right on the heels of a weeklong midsemester break, was a month of exciting guest activity on campus, among other great events. Here are some of the highlights.

A team from Bloomberg, including Ashesi Alumna Princess Asante '22, visited campus to engage with University leadership and speak to students about careers within the organisation.
We also welcomed Ashesi Board Directors, friends and partners to Ghana for a week of activities focused on highlighting the work of the different members of our community.
Activities included visits with alumni, and a viewing show with filmmaker and alumni Michael ’21.
Alumnus Bernard Ghartey '12 also joined our Venture Capital class this month to speak about his work with Norrsken22 — a technology growth fund partnering with exceptional entrepreneurs building Africa's next tech giants.
We also hosted selected high school student teams from the Ghana Energy Commission's Renewable Energy Challenge, which Ashesi supports. The students learned about Ashesi's efforts in improving renewable energy use on campus and beyond, as well as other initiatives in sustainability.
Computer Science students taking Robotics also hosted a guest lecture with the Senior Principal Technologist at Amazon Global Robotics, Nia Jetter. Nia spoke to students about successful autonomous systems that have been deployed in the world, technical challenges that must be overcome, and opportunities for future deployment of these controls applications.
The Ashesi Football Association in Partnership with the Ashesi Student Council, also started an inter-university league tournament that welcomed teams from the University of Professional Studies, Accra, Wisconsin International University College, and Academic City University College.
The Ashesi Basketball Association also ramped up its basketball league tournament, with the table shaping up as we headed into November.
The Ashesi Netball Association also celebrated players in its first tournament, held just before the start of October.
The career services team also hosted a day-long event with employment partners and recruiters this month. The event was focused on new initiatives at Ashesi, opportunities for deepening engagement, and other ways to improve student career preparation.
The entrepreneurship centre at Ashesi also hosted a pitch session between alumni entrepreneurs and leadership from Mann+Hummel, a global leader in manufacturing filtration products. The session was to give the team from Mann+Hummel a window into Ashesi businesses they could invest in.
During a visit to Ghana and Nigeria, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made a stop at Ashesi for a townhall event with students. Chancellor Scholz spent time answering questions from students about Germany's engagement with Ghana and Africa and described the visit as "a highlight" of his visit to West Africa.
October was also Breast Cancer Awareness Month on campus. Students, faculty, and staff wore pink on Pink Day to increase awareness of ways to mitigate the risk of breast cancer and to celebrate survivors.
Our third academic break for the semester was also held this month, as we took time to reconnect over drinks and snacks in-between classes.
